The Center for Natural and Artificial Information Processing Systems at the University of São Paulo (CNAIPS-USP) aims at pursuing interdisciplinary approaches to the theoretical and experimental study of phenomena in the area of information processing in natural or artificial systems, their emergence, characterization and applications. The center congregates several local and foreign researchers that  are collaborating on several issues and will serve to foster new projects of mutual interest.

Initial scientific interests are broadly described by: 1. cognition and decision models; 2. social information processing; 3. complex phenomena of a socio-economic nature; 4. cultural and social evolution; 5. data analysis and applications; and 6. foundations of information theory.
